Women's Health Resources

Women's Health Services Provided

Obstetrics

It is important to feel comfortable during your pregnancy. That is why our team of obstetricians and midwives is dedicated to helping you have a rewarding experience. Our knowledgeable team has more than 50 years of combined prenatal and delivery experience. During your pregnancy, you may be referred to a medical center such as St. Peter’s Hospital or Albany Medical Center for certain high-risk conditions. This ensures that important resources are available if necessary.

Gynecology

Our women’s health providers screen, diagnose and treat female reproductive health problems that include menstrual issues, sexually transmitted diseases, cancer, and diseases of the breasts, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and surrounding areas. We also help patients with fertility problems, premenstrual syndrome, and menopause-related issues. Every woman should make an appointment with an OB/GYN by the age of 21, or at such time as she becomes sexually active. It is important to return for regular Pap smears and pelvic exams after the initial appointment.

Adolescent Gynecology

Hudson Headwaters provides expert gynecology services to children, adolescents, and teenagers in a safe and comfortable environment. Our comprehensive services include the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of adolescents with gynecological issues such as early or delayed puberty, irregular menstrual cycles, menstrual pain, genital infections, and more.

Midwifery Services

Our experienced midwives work with the Glens Falls Hospital’s birthing unit to ensure a personalized maternity care experience from the first month of pregnancy to childbirth.

Bone Density Screening

Osteoporosis is an issue that affects women more than men and becomes more common after menopause and with advancing age. As a result, our experienced women care providers offer bone density testing as a preventative measure for women at risk for osteoporosis.

Care Management

Care Management works collaboratively with the OBGYN care team by helping provide patient-centered care for the patient, addressing any barriers that inhibit access to care and improved health, which includes socio-economic as well as functional barriers that they may have difficulty overcoming. The Care Managers work alongside the patient and care team to assist in improving patient health outcomes, improve access to care, empower the patient to overcome barriers, improve better self-management and transfer self-management skills to utilize in various settings in and outside of health care.

Nutrition Counseling

Your nutrition plays an important role in your health. Hudson Headwaters offers a nutritionist and certified diabetes educator to work with women who suffer from diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and other conditions.

LAVH (Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy)

For women in need a hysterectomy, Hudson Headwaters providers offer Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH). LAVH uses smaller incisions and a quicker recovery time than other hysterectomy options. Our qualified care providers can help you determine if this method is right for you.

Mammography and Ultrasound

Mammograms and ultrasounds are the best tools for finding breast cancer early before the symptoms appear. Our women’s care providers can help you determine your risk for breast cancer and the best screening plan for you.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal care is important for monitoring your baby’s development. Routine testing during these regular checkups will help find and prevent possible problems. It is also a great time to ask any questions you may have about your pregnancy or the birthing process.

Behavioral Health

Hudson Headwaters provides comprehensive mental health services including counseling, medication assessment, and medication prescribing. Behavioral health services work alongside primary care, as such this service is only available to primary care patients.
