Danielle King, AGNP came into the medical field after completing a degree in global public health and a master’s degree in public health at the University of Virginia. This career was a natural progression of her upbringing as the daughter of career U.S. diplomats. Her childhood and early adulthood were spent living in different countries, including Liberia, Jamaica, Haiti, Russia and Switzerland. No matter where Danielle and her family lived in the world, they continued to return to their home base in Tupper Lake, NY, where Danielle spent every summer and winter from the time she was born.
Danielle began her career managing international global public health programs in Francophone Africa and the Caribbean. In 2010, Danielle had a life-changing experience working in the post-disaster setting of a magnitude 7.0 earthquake in Haiti in the midst of a cholera outbreak. Inspired by the courageous nurses and medical providers that she worked alongside, Danielle realized that her true calling was to provide direct, lifesaving patient care. This prompted the change in her career path.
Danielle has been providing medical care in the North Country since graduating from the Yale School of Nursing in 2014. Danielle’s decision to live and work in the North Country was influenced by her fond childhood memories in Tupper Lake, her love of the Adirondacks and her desire to live closer to her aging family members.
Danielle sees patients as active participants in their own health care. She strives to empower patients with the education and tools they need to meet health goals.
Danielle’s areas of expertise and special interests include gastrointestinal and colorectal health and reproductive health care for all genders. She also has an interest and additional training in menopause management and gynecological care.
Outside of work, you can find Danielle dancing with the Soma Beats dance group in various parades/festivals, spending time with her family and her rescue dog Gaga and enjoying time in nature.
