Community Recognition of Founding Board Member Dr. James Morrissey

The Board of Directors of the Hudson Headwaters Health Foundation is pleased to recognize the tremendous community legacy of board member Dr. James “Jim” Morrissey and his wife Kay who were recently announced as recipients of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 29th J. Walter Juckett Community Service Award. Dr. Morrissey is a founding board member of the Health Foundation and long-time advocate of and partner in Hudson Headwaters’ mission to provide accessible, high-quality health care throughout the region.

“We are just one of the many organizations that benefit from Jim’s leadership and generosity,” said Foundation Board Chair Jim Himoff. “We wholeheartedly commend the Chamber’s selection and look forward to helping celebrate the Morrissey’s life-long commitment to our communities.”

Dr. Morrissey’s connection to Hudson Headwaters began in the 1970s when he first met founder Dr. John Rugge.

“The amazing generous contributions that Jim Morrissey has made to so many community organizations is—or should be—plain for all to see. Much less visible is the equally amazing support that he gave to certain little health centers in the Adirondacks 40 years ago,” expressed Dr. Rugge. “Without his moral support, his willingness to accept patients in need even when they had no insurance and could not pay, his advocacy for primary care delivered by teams that included physician assistants and nurse practitioners—well, without all this, without Jim Morrissey—the fact is there would be no Hudson Headwaters Health Network today.”

Dr. Morrissey currently sees patients at Hudson Headwaters’ Warrensburg Health Center.

The Hudson Headwaters Health Foundation was founded in 2005 to further the mission of the Hudson Headwaters Health Network, a nonprofit organization. Learn more at hhhn.org/support.
